After spending much time with his beloved, Sadie. The couple fathered a child, which they cared for deeply. Calthor came to slowly understand that his hate towards the tribespeople was unjust. He made plans with Sadie to offer peace to the denizens of Linaymena, and to return their lands. However, the Ostoran Supreme Council quickly recieved word of Calthor's treasonous thoughts...
They sent a trained assasint to end Calthor's life, and to end Sadie's life too. A few loyal soldiers managed to alert Calthor to the presence of the assasin. Calthor and sadie barely managed to flee with their lives. Running to the mountains, with meager amounts of food and water, and only witht the clothes on their back.
That is when the Linaymenan hero finally made his assault on the fort, taking it over and marking the first success in a series of battles that would eventually lead to the humans being driven off the island.
The Supreme council weaved a particularly biased story for the public. They claimed that calthor died honorably, defending his fort, and that the beasts won by dishonorable means. Little did they know. The assasin did not survive the ordeal, and no body could be found. But the supreme council was convinced that calthor had truly met his end by an assasin's poisoned blade.
Calthor and Sadie had left their young child behind. They sent their young girl to an esteemed orphanage, as they knew they could not raise a child in such harsh conditions. This child was adopted by a noble family, and grew to become something utterly terrible. Something that Calthor and Sadie would never be proud of.
truth, Calthor and Sadie fled to the treacherous, snowy mountains, north of Linaymena. Where they lived out their lives in peace, and solitute. Nobody would come near them, because the mountains were extremely harsh to travelers. But the two managed to persevere. They built a cabin, and lived in solitute, only being visited somtimes by the isolationist Bear tribes who made their homes at the peak of the mountains.
When the humans invaded, corruption began to spread like fire.
The Pale One was kidnapped and hypnotized by Calthor the Destroyer, tricked into having a bastard child with him. The Nine-Tails tried to save her many times, even going as far as storming the fortress.
On the mountain, the Brave Nine-Tails killed Calthor in exchange for her own life. Her bones were scattered across the island, causing massive gem deposits to form. These gems attracted many different species, the most notable being the horse-people who were able to call upon earth spirits to preform incredible feats.
Well, i recently read an old legend about a couple who died after fighting to stay together, and their spirits reappeared every month around this specific heart-shaped pond on Norway or something. I just couldn't resist applying it to Calthor and Sadie.
